WCML South tomorrow morning?

Hey, I'm due to catch a train back home to London tomorrow morning from Milton Keynes, I'm going for either the 1108 or 1117, and they appear to be using Platform 1 at MK, and taking almost an hour to get to Euston. Services seem to be back to normal a couple of hours later. Is there engineering work somewhere or something? Thanks

Aye. Saturday 2000 to Sunday 1200, we go down to two lines from Hanslope Junction-Euston. The first few northbound Virgin are timed so loosely that they arrive up to 15 minutes early, often having to wait outside the station until the preceding one reaches it's scheduled departure time.

On the one hand, with the first southbound Virgin at 09:39 the ticket choices we have to offer go from 3 to 2 as Virgin Only tickets go out of the equation. On the other hand, we still have the Virgin Fanatics who can never get it through their heads that they won't get to Euston any faster.

These are hardcore train enthusiasts we're talking about here. They notice the difference between a red and a greenish train, and choose according to preference...

^^^ Yup, we call em Virgin Fanatics for a reason. I've even had one turn up when I worked the booking office at Bletchley one time. Couldn't get through his thick skull that instead of going up to MKC and waiting for a Virgin, he could catch the fast Midland (XX:46 LBZ, EUS) which was coming soon and be there quicker. Let me tell you, if the next West Coast operator fills the hours-long gaps in service and accepts Groupsave, then MKC won't be anywhere near LM's biggest breadwinner anymore.

That said, Sunday is a little better for variety. As we have three direct Glasgows, direct Wolves, a direct Liverpool at 12:03. Plus a lot of trips on the Sunday are Northampton Saints fans travelling to the home games

I think it's the slows that are closed?

In addition to the stuff mentioned above, National Rail says that VT are going via Northampton (and LM are running buses to compensate) tomorrow until 9pm, so that could explain platform 1?
