WCML Sightlines

Has anyone got any idea which wcml station has the longest sightlines? The only 2 I have been to with exceptional sightlines are Lockerbie and Watford Junction. Does anyone know any other good stations?

Crewe has a rather good sight line looking South but not so much North.

• I don't know if it's the longest, but I recall on a clear day there's a pretty long view southwards from the platforms at Preston, as in this typical telephoto shot on Panoramio.
  
  
• Also at Leyland station, I think there's a pretty good line of sight. Significantly better on the slow lines than the fast IIRC (although it's a good while since I've been there).

• How about some of the WCML stations out on the Cheshire plain, e.g. Winsford? Anyone know the situation there?

Cheddington has a long sightline northbound.

Milton Keynes Central has about a mile or so the the north and maybe a mile and a half to the south.

Preston has about a mile to the south end as well.

As has been said above, Leyland has great sightlines North and South on the slow lines, and an alright line of sight looking South on the fasts (but not North as the curvature of the track to go around the island platform and the road bridge mean you can only see to the next bridge along).

Better than Watford, in my view (especially Milton Keynes)
