Hi all,

Overhead wire problems in the Rugby area

Last updated 05/04/2008 17:23
Route Affected London Euston, Wembley Central, Harrow & Wealdstone, Watford Junction, Milton Keynes Central, Northampton, Rugby, Coventry, Birmingham International & Birmingham New Street
TOC(s) Affected London Midland, Virgin Trains
Description Train services via Rugby are being disrupted by overhead wire problems

Virgin Trains services are suspended between London Euston and Birmingham International.

London Midland services between Birmingham New Street and Northampton are in operation between Birmingham and Coventry only

Replacement road transport is in operation between Bimingham International and Milton Keynes Central and between Coventry and Northampton

London Midland's train service between Northampton and London Euston will operate as normal

Virgin Trains passengers with tickets dated for travel today, Saturday 5 April, are allowed for travel on Sunday 6 or Monday 7 April

It is estimated that a normal service will resume by 20:00

------------------------------------------------------

Also, the 13:03 Birmingham to Glasgow was terminated at Wigan, 44 late, due to a train fault.

The 09:18 Glasgow to Euston never made it onto the S&C, due to a train fault, more likely to be a mating problem between Pendo & Thubderbird. (Teriminated at Carlisle on time)

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Edit: The 13:03 was originally being shown as cancelled Euston-International, with no report beyond Preston. It now shows up as leaving Rugby at 17:50 (232 late!), and is just about to leave Wigan North Western... It looks like there could be a late evening drag over the S&C, but I am very surprised that it appears to be running north of Preston, even considering the circumstances of the service. (i.e. stuck for 4 hours, would arrive Glasgow early tomorrow morning etc..)
