Well 2K00 0642 MKC-EUS was right time at Kings Langley and then appears to have terminated at WFJ 30L at 0753. Could this be the incident train? Many cancellations on VT and LM this morning. Lines now open again.

AIUI 2K00 (350118) was stopped by a door open indication, cause unknown. No other information regarding the masonry mentioned by the OP; that's not to say something more had occurred to the train set.
That definitely looks like the door was struck by something!

To be that looks like the door has been sucked inwards under some significant pressure.
But if that was the case I would expect massive injury!

I was on the 0900 Preston to Euston which was terminated, apparently at Rugby. Fortunately for me I had changed trains at Crewe onto delayed 1A05 ex Liverpool which had been held at Crewe from 0912 to 1036 arriving Euston 1236 , so was only 30 mins late for me. All train manager told us was problem with a LM train in Watford tunnels. Suffice to say Crewe was unusually busy at about 1030 on a Sunday with detrained people on platforms and at least 3 s/b Virgin Pendelinos being held while it was decided what to do. To be honest, not sure even the announcer at Crewe or Virgin staff really knew either. Only now since Im back home in Lancs (2000) can I find out what happened . Also we were also told that Eurostar would any honour tickets for later, even if passengers were delayed. Seems things were back to normal at lunchtime x

Things weren't back to normal all day, with a variety of services cancelled or significantly delayed throughout. There were also additional problems around Kings Langley later in the day.

Let's just say it wasn't a piece of masonry at all, but something else which struck the door and opened it and bent it. The RAIB will be investigating, and someone will be having a chat with definitely no tea or biscuits!

According to train announcer delays today caused by someone throwing a filing cabinet onto moving train from a bridge. Unbelievably stupid.
This also held up supporters going up WCML to Man Utd v Chelsea , so its been made public by the train announcer.

If the tweet was about yesterday then it's far from the truth. Nothing got thrown at a train, from any bridge. Nor was a filing cabinet involved.

I was just reporting what I read on Twitter. I was delayed (have applied for Delay Repay) going to London. I just want to know the specific reason. Seems funny that I cant see anything on any news sites. I presume RAIB will investigate it? I will email Virgin to see what they say

That probably because only a small amount of people know what happened (people directly involved with it) and the people who have access to the log, which is why the papers etc don't know as they haven't been told. The RAIB were informed so I presume they will as some questions without doubt need to be answered

Thankfully 11:35 was running from Piccadilly was running but the 11:15 was cancelled so it was rammed and standing from Stockport. I was going to upgrade but the train was declassified so never actually got charged. The guard was very apologetic re all the issues.

From that pic it looks as if the door has been damaged from the inside. Are them doors made of steel or aluminium?

I wonder if was related to the clocks going back in that , giving work was being done as usual on Sat night/Sun morn in Watford area, someone got timings wrong by that extra hour and that class 350 was not expected to be where work was being done. Anyway London Midland will be without a Class 350 unit for some time until repaired.
