Apparently some problems with the overhead lines near Milton Keynes resulted in certain trains cancelled between Manchester Piccadilly and Euston, including all XX:15 scheduled departures from Manchester, one of which I was booked on. Got on the 12:35 service and then encountered delays near Nuneaton which was announced as due to single line running and having to wait for two trains going in the opposite direction to pass. Does anyone know what the problem was around Nuneaton this afternoon?

The train manager was very apologetic about it all.

Overhead line problems near Nuneaton.
Been going on for more than 24 hours.
Southbound trains can't call at Atherstone so the Up Slow at least must be closed.

BBC travel were reporting that an OHLE fault that meant LM couldn't call at Atherstone in the down direction, and this was causing delays for VWC.

Being the BBC it could all be wrong though...

No. BBC have got it right. Travel news says' trains not stopping on LM Southbound at Atherstone due to overhead line problems at Nuneaton'. The Up lines seems to be closed as all traffic is using the down lines,so the bidi is in use with lower speeds from Amington Junction through and beyond Nuneaton.
