It certainly is good, as you'd expect from Mr Ross. Driving the 87 is a real test. Only quibble I would have is that it's possible to get the 47 up to 110mph on the level, when it can only do 95 in real life.

Great scenery, good scenarios and interesting stock. One of the few recent RS routes worth buying at full whack IMO

95mph is the operational speed limit isn't it? All trains can go fast than their advertised speed limit these days it's limit+10% which would be around 105mph so 110mph does not seem unreasonable.

Thanks very much for the post, jp4712. I knew there were plans to release a Preston to Carlisle, but missed the release date. I'll certainly be buying it soon.

It is a masterpiece of simulation. It also covers a few other branch lines including Bare Lane, Carnforth and Dumfries. Outstanding

Isn't the 87 the same 87 that was released a little while ago, and not made by Mr. Ross, and the 47 just the same one that's been around for years (along with its inherent problems)? Or am I wrong?

Yeah, same models underneath. But these have been heavily scripted.

I have now released an update of the WCML2 Virgin Class 87 and it can be downloaded from here.

When placing a locomotive, it will now automatically have the correct number and nameplate. (Thanks Ron) The errant BR logo on the cab side has also been removed and all new roof mounted fire suppression tanks have been added as a child object.

Same models but with some scripting and performance changes as Darandio said, with the 47 getting special attention and feeling completely different to the default one with regards to driving characteristics.

The problem with original class 87 is it sounds nothing like one. I think they are using the class 86 for it's sounds.

On the 87, is there a way of avoiding having to turn the tapper off (and wait for the needle to drop all the way down before turning on again) for the Neutral Sections?
