WCML disruption?

We sat on the station at Lichfield TV tonight and for about 30 minutes, just one train went south, and none went north. This is very unusual, particularly for a Friday night. The 2009 VT Preston service was nearly 20 minutes late, and just after it stopped, trains then starting running through again northbound, practically one every 30 seconds or so. It seemed as if they'd all been held back somewhere... everything seems to be running OK now.

Anyone aware of any disruption tonight?

NRE said there was a problem with line-side equipment between Preston and Wigan earlier today - no idea what time though. Perhaps the delays were because of that.
