Hi all,

Apologies if already posted, I couldn't see any mention elsewhere.

There have been severe delays pretty much all day today between Carlisle and Glasgow/Edinburgh. Firstly booked engineering work over ran.

Just as that got sorted, a signalling problem which is reported to be in the Motherwell area has had a severe affect on trains. I don't understand why Edinburgh to Carlisle/the south are also being delayed, unless the problem is actually away from Motherwell?

As already talked about on here, East Coast are diverting their trains via the WCML Newcastle-Carlisle-Edinburgh, so there are even more disrupted passengers compared to normal.

Delays of two hours have been noted, some even worse than that.

Anyone on here affected?

Thanks.

Total signalling failure between Motherwell and the Border. All lines now re-opened, but with services delayed by up to 170 minutes.

Ouch! Thanks for the more accurate info 43094. I guess trains travelled very slowly signal to signal and had to contact the bobbie at every signal?

Unfortunatly got caught up in this.

Was doing the Highland Chieftain to Carlisle when we stopped at Beattock around 1420. Should have had 1hr 45mins in Carlisle for the 1637 to Leeds. But that went out the window, but we started moving again just before 1700, so was hopeful of making 1741 Dalesrail service to Hellifield where a lift could have been arranged. But we stopped at just North of Lockerbie because a Pendolino was making its station stop, then 15miles from Carlisle we were stopped by a level crossing, where the driver was given permission to pass at red.

We arrived at Carlisle just as the Dalesrail was pulling out. So then had to a Voyager to Lancaster for the 2000 Morecambe-Leeds back to Skipton.

Arrived 3 hours later than planned.
