WCML delays 19-07-11

Hi all,

Just a quick post to warn everyone that there are currently delays to WCML services out of Euston this evening, due to a broken down train in the Hemel Hempstead area.

I think the 17:57 Euston to Glasgow Central may possibly be the affected service, as it had earlier been shown on NRES as being delayed by a train fault, but now shows cancelled completely.

It looks like VT have taken the Pendo which was going to form the 19:58 Preston to Euston, and started the Euston Glasgow from Preston, presumably to ensure they have the right number of Pendos at Polmadie this evening.

Yes it was the 1757 which was affected. A Liverpool LSt pendolino made an unscheduled stop at Lichfield TV just after 2030 - it was packed (reckon it must have picked up the stranded passengers from the 1757). The 2037 LM to Crewe was running about 17 minutes late (eventually arrived just before 2100) and the 2050 VT to Manc Pic wasn't expected until 2118.

I was caught up in the delays and missed my Whitchurch connection from Crewe - 1 hour at Crewe during the late evening was a bit annoying!

Anyhow, it means EVEN MORE COMPENSATION!!! (And at least it wasn't caused by someone committing suicide.)

The past 7 days have been full of delays (unusually many). 4 were caused by suicides (3 of which I was affected by), which is also unusually high in my opinion.

Ouch, the nature of your delays are rather nasty ALR!

I seem to have a nack of avoiding delays in the Euston area, I say this because:

1) A month or two ago I was on a Pendo into Euston, and got unusually routed to the slow lines somewhere north of Watford Junction. On the way I passed at least 2-3 Pendo's on the Euston bound line, with a Super Voyager stopped the other way and a similar number of Pendo's behind it.

Reason- A Manchester to Euston Pendo had lost its pantograph on the fast line, causing heavy delays to services directly behind it.

Luckily I was unusually returning via the ECML, so avoided any sort of delay.

2) Yesterday I took the 14:30 Eus to Lancaster as far as Preston- perfectly on time etc.. If I had been travelling 4 hours later, say on the 18:30, I would've been 40+mins late..
