I often think of the route from Motherwell to Whifflet, Coatbridge, Greenfaulds and beyond as a route where Intercity/sleeper trains, to my knowledge, have never been used on. I am certain I must be wrong on this however.
Looking to the future however:
Are there paths available for direct WCML- Coatbridge - Stirling/and beyond routes?
What stock would be allowed to run from the WCML to Stirling etc...?
Clearly there is demand for going overnight from England to North of the Central Belt. Would there be enough demand for a full train during the day though that skips Glasgow and Edinburgh to go further North?
