At Euston. Was on 2009 LNWR service to Milton Keynes which departed and then abruptly stopped. After a short while the driver announced that we would be returning to the platform. Once there we were told it was cancelled due to a police investigation at Harrow & Wealdstone.

Very sadly reports of a train hitting a person just north of Harrow and Wealdstone. Thoughts with all involved.

The last Southern train to Hemel Hempstead wasn't the last Southern train to Hemel Hempstead then!

I was on the 2023 Northampton service on the opposite platform and noticed the sudden stop and wondered what was going on. We then sat in our platform for quite some time before finally being turfed out back to the concourse. In the end I headed across to St Pancras to head to a Corby service to Bedford and get the last Marston Vale across, as there was no information.

22;00 to Liverpool was the first departure it seemed after the block was lifted. Highland sleeper is very late.

Rest in peace

I haven't seen anything on Avanti's website about obtaining a refund for any additional costs incurred as a result of the disruption (eg: Underground to a different London terminal), only mention of delay repay. Is this normal? What provision is there for such refunds?

You can contact Avanti Customer Service team and ask them. Though if you chose to do this off your own back rather than Avanti telling you to do it, getting refunded may not be easy.

Avanti had a responsibility to get you to your final destination, which given the likely length of delay would possibly have set up ticket acceptance but didn't see anything on our side. Expectation may have been to wait for service resumption where possible.
