Wayfarer/East Midlands Rover

Have recently completed a 7 day North West Rover and am considering doing an East Midland Rover.
I live in Chorley and was therefore considering combining it with a Wayfarer. This could give me access to be near to Sheffield.

Northern run a service to Sheffield and I dont see that being a problem.
Trans Pennine also run a service via Stockport which seems to eventually follows a similar route as the Northern service before entering Sheffield.

Would using the combination of tickets be acceptable on the TPE service be acceptable?

Will ask TPE but they may take a while to respond.

Did a Lancashire Day Ranger on Wednesday. Euxton, Wigan, Kirkby, Kirkdale, Ormskirk, Preston, Burnley, Man Vic, Liverpool, Blackpool and Euxton. About 175 miles, a good day.

The validity of the tickets overlap on the Hope Valley line between Chinley/New Mills Central (furthest north-west of the East Midlands Rover) and Grindleford (furthest south-east of the TfGM Wayfarer).

With Northern the validity is simple as the train stops at several of the stations along this section.

With TPE the ticket is valid under condition 19c of the National Rail Conditions of Carriage:

one of the tickets is a Season Ticket (which for this purpose does not include Season Tickets or travel passes issued on behalf of a passenger transport executive or local authority) or a leisure travel pass, and the other ticket(s) is/are not.

To clarify, the condition goes on to state:

For the purposes of this Condition, a “leisure travel pass” means any multi-journey ticket
(excluding Season Tickets) valid for:
(i) at least 7 consecutive days; or
(ii) at least 3 days in a period of at least 7 consecutive days
and includes rover tickets, travel passes, flexipass tickets and BritRail passes

So the East Midlands Rover is a leisure travel pass and the Wayfarer is not - so as long as validity overlaps, you're fine if the train does not stop.
