Waterloo East's older displays are in the process of being replaced. In fact, they may all be gone already as at the start of January there were only three left and again at the end of January only one was left standing. See it while you can!

There was only one old computer screen style display left too...

Thanks for letting me know.
Massive massive shame... I did prefer them over the newer displays -- they seemed to be able to display all the other information like Class type etc as the new displays do. I suppose they couldn't justify the cost of maintaining only one station set of them any longer.

Sadly the end of an era. I am surprised they lasted at Waterloo East for so long. Originally they were at almost every SE and SN station but the rest were removed over five years ago. These were such good boards. Such a good clear design and they looked really nice. I believe that Barry (Platform 1) still has one Connex board left (ATW used these at a few stations too) and i think that is the very last one remaining.

Are these the yellow ones on the platforms that show everything in orange dots? If so, I liked them too.

Yes that is them. Data Display who have since been bought by Daktronics made them.

Although oddly Waterloo East had blue casing instead of the yellow casing used everywhere else. But still the same boards just painted a different colour.

Once removed, where do they end up?
Please don't say 'the skip'!
Unfortunately they probably do. Sadly the train companies never seem to care about preserving stuff like this. It would be nice if some were donated to museums or heritage railways.
