Due to a gas leak you cannot access Waterloo East from Main concourse or access Waterloo main from the East platforms.

Can some one explain why a gas leak shuts a main interchange link for 2 days plus.

Whether it's true or not seemingly, the local main network gas contractor has refused to sort out problem as a Network rail Private pipe not part of main gas network?? Shambles. Joined up public services???

I would have thought that the gas supply contractor would at least have made the situation safe, even if only by disconnecting Network Rail's supply until NR had got someone in to fix the pipe.

Exactly safety first before any commercial consideration.

We're currently closed due to emergency gas works in the local area. If you're staying with us this weekend please contact our hotel sales team.

Enjoy food and beverages at our sister pub a short walk away.

Doesn't actually say that the leak is inside the pub. So how do you get into Waterloo East when the other entrance is right beside that pub?

On Friday it was via the fire escape which goes into the subway at the Southwark end, with anybody using oyster or contactless asked to touch in (or out) on the gates (which were locked open) (which leads into 'no mans land' before the LU gateline)

I never knew that; when did it leave the BTH empire?
Memories are hazy, but IIRC it was a bit of a fringe operation by Travellers-Fare and had no direct connection with the BTH hotels. The premises were owned by the railway and the operation of the bar was outsourced to T-F, though it was certainly never branded as such. I can't recall the accommodation being in commercial use. Presumably this arrangement came to an end with the demise of T-F.
