Local BBC radio said that there were delays on SWT/Eurostar as Waterloo was closed because of a security alert. I wonder if that led to any interesting train movements?

There was a suspicous person and item in the Eurostar Terminal that Police were dealing with. It also closed the LU station.

I was in the messroom at Waterloo at the time on an 0905 As Ordered turn.

I was given instructions to work the 1250 Woking.
Just as I was about to leave the messroom to work it a message come over the tannoy when the fire alarm went off for us to stay in the messroom.I thought sod it if I stay up here the train will be late out and my train was on platform 2.I walked down the stairs to my train but the platform staff was signaling to me and I also noticed that there were no passengers on the train and no guard.

Then all the drivers who were in the room came down the stairs and eventually we were sent to the park outside Waterloo.Didn't get to work the train and the service was buggered up still when I left to go home.

Apparently there were two suspicious people one with something strapped round his waist but I dont know anymore than that.

A lot of trains terminated at Clapham and Queeenstown Road I was told.

Thanks JD. Only done the "ladder" once on an up Southampton train about 11 years ago to the UWF, for some reason not explained. I suppose it's then a walk to Battersea Park for Victoria for the unforunates who get dumped there?

PS Am I the only member to recall it being Queens Road Battersea?

I did both ladder crossovers in a month last year. AFAIK the mainline side of Waterloo - Vauxhall was closed so trains were crossing over there ... then the other weekend the Windsor line side was closed so Windsor line trains were both terminating at Clapham and going from platform 7 and 8 at Waterloo over to Reading.

I reckon there might have been some interesting bowel movement if you were next to a suspect package..

We call them belts here.

Honestly do people still believe terrorists carry explosives on their belts. Do they look out for people with bags marked swag?
