Waterbeach station relocation funding approved.

Looks like Greater Cambridge Partnership are putting up the money and then getting it back from property developers in the future.

The GCP’s Executive Board agreed at a meeting yesterday (Thursday, June 30) to take responsibility for the project, investing £20 million, and putting forward the remaining £17 million, which will later be repaid by the developer.

The project had initially been proposed to be developer-led, but the developer, RLW Estates, failed to get a commercial funding agreement for the scheme.

Can't quite place what's going on with the rails in the picture to this story...something seems off?!

In other words, local people will be paying for it, and then the GCP will inevitably fail to get the money back, and the property developers will make a tidy sum from avoiding the things they originally agreed to.

In my opinion, the GCP are a total disaster - and a totally unaccountable one. We'd be far better off if it had never got off the ground.
