Hello there.

I live in Bodmin and have always wondered if there was a railway station in the nearby village of Lanivet?

Many ais have said yes, and my mum says people have talked about it in the village before, but there is nothing online at all about it.

Please could you help me?

There was a halt at Nanstallon on the Bodmin General to Wadebridge line, but no railways serving Lanivet itself.

There was a St Lawrence Platform or Halt at 5m 19 ch that was only open from 26 October 1906 to 1 January 1917. There were also two platforms at Boscarne Junction, but these were only open 1964 to 1966 and had no road access: they were just for changing trains.

Interesting question - I wondered if there had been a mineral line from Roche so looked at this site:

There wasn't, but on the left it shows what was maybe a horse-drawn tram leading towards Wheal Prosper from near an "Old Quarry."
Maybe that explains the memory?

A quick look at an old Cornish Archaeology suggests that it was a horse-worked tramway using side-tipping ore tubs.

interesting snippet on the Cornwall Railway Site today, about a 1905 GWR proposal to build a railway from the south of Bodmin General on the Wadebridge Branch to Roche on the Newquay Branch. This was to provide a shorter and less fiercely graded route for long-distance expresses to Newquay. Of interest to the OP was that it would have skirted just south of Lanivet - so maybe this is where 'all the talk in the village' came from. I've certainly never heard of this proposal before.

I found the couple of lines at the bottom of the left-hand column particularly interesting. The GWR were planning to build a completely new railway from Bodmin, on the line from Bodmin Road to Bodmin General, to near Roche on the line from Par to Newquay. The thinking was to shorten the route for heavy expresses to Newquay and to obviate the ferocious climb of Luxulyan Bank of three miles, at gradients as steep as 1 in 37 (although the climb out of Bodmin Road was nearly as steep and started from the platform end with a sharp curve, but the bank was a bit shorter at 2½ miles and a little less steep at 1 in 40/61). It would have been fascinating to watch a heavy Newquay express banked out of Bodmin Road Station by the branch engine (borrowed for 20 minutes) from a standing start in the branch platform, round the sharp curve and over the viaduct.

I would suspect that a major reason for this was to once and for all block any extension of the London & South-Western Railway’s system further west. There had been proposals to extend it as far as Newquay or even Truro, and then possibly seek running powers to Falmouth and even the holy of holies, Penzance.
