Feels both another lifetime ago but also so familiar, I'd give the right arm to do it all again tomorrow, 3900xx just doesn't quite have the same appeal.
Fairly standard move at the time, return to Cov then a daytripper around the West Mids. Usual WCML weekend blockade farce meant I must have viewed (probably from the bus) the 0730 Wolves leaving with a 'seven' as I wouldn't have risked a Sandwell leap blind for the return working.

Was it really 28 years ago since I saw 24082 at Willesden en route to Euston?

Only one of two 24's I ever saw the other being 24006 in 1979.

Was it really 36 years ago I saw class 44 just numbered 9 on a rake of 16 ton mineral wagons head north thru Alfreton?

Or even 34 years since I saw class 17's 8504,8546 and 8563 being towed by 40019 north thru Langley Mill on their way to the scrapyard?

Or,just 33 years ago when I saw the first production HST creep out of Derby works on a very hot day in 1976?

Oh the memories!
