Was anyone at manchester picc at about 7, 7:30pm?

There was a pair of Freightliner 86s working through 13 that was waiting for a long time and some not nice things where shouted, and some unsanitary things done against the PS Relays at the south end of the station at the old signals centre, anyone else there before I tell the full story and start doing quotes?

it'll be rare if someone on here was there. If I were you I'd have a look at WNXX as they're may be some more info on there

Well Nym just tell us. If people from here were doing things they shouldn't then they should be big enough to take it.

No, they where 2 seperate instances:

No.1 some dealers or railway enthusiasts on the south of 13/14 went over for a slash nearly causing a one under when the other FL86s came round the corner to run through 14 at about 30, 35, the brakes where on...

No.2 Somone decided to take a photo when the liners on 13 set off, I'll quote the driver then explain.

*86s Set off*
*Brakes Slam On, I heard the emergency de-pressurization vales*
*Cab door opens*
"DO ME A FAVOR!"
*Cab door slams closed, brakes re-pressurize, cab door opens again*
"SHOVE THAT ****ING (fupping) CAMERA UP YOUR ARSE(anus)! TO ME A RED LIGHT MEANS STOP!"
*Cab door realy slams shut this time, loco goes to full power then 20secs the brakes are released and he sets off to the slow lines on a full clear, when he started setting off on a single amber!*
After that, Platform 13's dispatcher came and ejected that person in question, (Tall and ugly btw.), from the station and I had to run to get my Southport Train...

Its not a criminal offense, it's a public order offense...

They can't arrest you unless a member of the public complains, btw, yes this can be one of the CCTV operatives, so long as they're not police officers ;)

Although you could get a Council offense and be given a penalty notice without complaint by the public, because it's littering ;)

Ah right. Did he use flash as well? If its just the light on the front then maybe a bit of an overreaction but having said that I tape mine over if I know i'll be doing night photography.

It will be his AF assist light. On many compacts it is a red light.

The problem the driver will have is that it is red and looks like some ass on a platform is shining a laser pen at the cab.

Another problem is that it usually does not activate unless the flash is activated. On the vast majority of cameras it can be deactivated in the menu

And before you ask. No I dont know how to do it on your camera ;)

In Scotland you can be arrested for public order offences without complaint from a 3rd party.

I might be being pedantic, but a tiny little red light on the front of a camera should not be mistaken for a rather large red aspect at a signal, also taking into account the drivers route knowledge the driver should know that it's obviously not a signal...

but if the driver complained then fair enough, move them on.

To be fair, if a driver sees a glimpse of red, he/she may stop just in case

The light on the front on my camera is green.

First time I used it was at reading filming a HSt depart, standing underneath a green signal, HST left etc.

Had the dispatcher come up to e and asked me 'to turn that green light off'. However I can't.

Since then i've adjusted the way I hold my camera so I just cover the light without blocking the lens.

But you wouldn't be using the flash anyway would you? So unless the light is the focus finder?

What kind of camera do you have? You can turn the illuminator off on most...

Why do they have to make the AF assist lights colours that you can't use on railway night shots, like red and green!

But he could of been confused for a member of staff holding a Bardic with red, or similar railway torch?

I've had no issues with my AF illuminator, It is also green. Though you its way too small to be confused with some sort of signal. Most drivers and staff see the camera first anyway. Specially being at night, you will have a tripod with you... well, of course if you have one.

The wonders of Image Stabilisation mean I don't need a tripod, or an AF assist light ;)

For the record my AF assist is white.

Top Tip!

Get a camera without silly lights if your going to be photographing in an environment where such lights could cause confusion.
