Warrington to Hebden Bridge

Travelling on Saturday 16th August

Warrington to Todmorden, canal walk to Hebden Bridge, train back to Warrington. Maybe break journey in Manchester on way back.

2 adults - one 55, one 57. Not got Two Together Railcard.

Because of possible breaks of journey, advances don't look sensible.

Duo tickets with a split at Manchester give me £37 give or take. I also think that allows either Warrington station and any Manchester station too. Are Duo tickets valid just on Northern or on TPE, TFW, EMR too?

Any other options without using Advances?

Duo tickets splitting at Manchester cost £35.80. Any Warrington and Manchester station, as you say - and they are both "Any Permitted" so you can take any operator or route.

Given the lack of Railcard, Advances aren't much cheaper - even ignoring the possibiltiy of a break of journey. So split Duo tickets are probably the best option all round.

If you'd be happy to limit yourself to travelling via the CLC from Warrington Central, it'd be marginally cheaper to buy a GM Rail Ranger and then buy Duos to cover the 'gaps' from Warrington to Glazebrook and Littleborough to Hebden Bridge. That would cost £35.20. Probably not worth it for the loss of flexibility though. Because you'd be splitting with a Ranger, you wouldn't be limited to stopping services, but it's still a bit of a pain to have to trek from Oxford Road to Victoria.
