Hello

Does anyone know of a cheaper way to get between Warrington and Morecambe than paying £19.70 for the dates below

Warrington-Morecambe: 22nd July, can arrive anytime between 11 and 3
Return: 23rd July, can depart after 4.

I have tried splitting at Wigan & Preston but its not any cheaper

Journey is for 2 adults, no railcards

Thanks for any help given

Stu

There's nowhere else to 'split' the journey into a combination of tickets, given that the only intermediate stations are Preston and Wigan! (The fare from Morecambe being the same as the fare from Lancaster).

The ticket you quote is an Off Peak Return and is valid at any time from 0415 onwards M-F. No evening restriction. Valid any train at weekends/bank holidays. Return within 1 month.

The only way to make it cheaper is if there is a loophole in the Routeing Guide. If there is one, then once revealed here it'll be noted by ATOC and put on their list to remove! There may be such an anomaly, it's worth looking at alternative destinations nearby, and seeing if they're valid via Warrington and if they're cheaper. (But whether the potentially slightly reduced cost will compensate the time spent doing this, is doubtful!)
