I am traveling to manchester on friday, returning saturday, is it any cheaper to split the journey, or stick to one fare, for walkup tickets.

Try doing a London Midland only fare from Walsall to Stoke on Trent then a Virgin only (I think) fare to Manchester Piccadilly from there. It should beat the through fare.

On my phone at the moment so can't check prices.
