Wallsend platform 1 closed

As above Metro have stated on Facebook that platform 1 is currently closed due to a police incident.

Does anyone know what this is? Someone has commented saying a gang war but whether or not this is the case is anyones guess.

Person was attacked last night and has serious head injuries. Forensics were there this morning and the stairwell was cordoned off until lunchtime.

Unfortunately the victim has died.

Man, 22, dies after Wallsend Metro station attack
A 22-year-old Lithuanian man who was attacked in a North Tyneside Metro station has died in hospital.

The victim suffered head injuries in an assault at Wallsend Metro station on Sunday night.

Two men aged 21 and 22, from Wallsend, had previously been charged with attempted murder but remain in police custody pending further inquiries.

The pair, who have not been named, are due to appear before Newcastle Crown Court next month.
