Off down to Gatehouse of Fleet for a few days. Treating my Mum (again!). She fancies doing some light walking ~ I fancy seeing some fine old railway architecture.

Does any one have any info of access onto the former trackbed? No right of way info is shown on Scottish OS maps but it looks light a lot of the solum is tracked or even tarmacked?

Even is it was possible to get to a few old viaducts for photo opportunities. e.g. Loch Ken, Stroan, & the Water of Fleet Viaducts (Big & Little).

TIA.

Quite an interesting film about the line here. Have arrived at Gatehouse ~ a lovely wee town. Will pop up the seven or so miles to Gatehouse Station tomorrow to see the Big Water of Fleet Viaduct ~ no chance to see the Little Water one as the army blew it up as a training exercise!

How did it go? did you see anything of interest, and were you able to follow much of the former trackbed?
