Walk up Fares Amsterdam-Eindhoven?

Does anyone know what the walk up fare is Amsterdam to Eindhoven next Sunday returning Monday? i cant honestly say what time im travelling etc but need to be back in Amsterdam for the evening.

Ive seen fares of £16/17 online but im unsure if i can buy those at the time or buy them now

It should be 35 euros return for walk up tickets (you will be buying two singles; return tickets are twice the price of singles and there aren't really period returns). There is a small charge for buying from a manned ticket office as opposed to a machine, and in the (two or three?) stations that accept them, a charge for using non-Dutch credit cards. Amsterdam Centraal is one of the ones that accepts them. These charges are both somewhere around 0.50/1.50 euro I believe.

The NS website should help you plan it here. You will be paying the full fare, unless you have bought some monthly/annual discount on your registered OV-chipkaart (smart travel card). You can also purchase a ticket in advance from this site

Ah, just checked and you will need a Dutch bank account to purchase from the NS website.

You could buy from Rail Europe but they'd charge (£8) for postage and there is no discount for buying in advance on Dutch railways, so if you have the time it'd be cheaper to buy on the day.

All ticket machines have an English option and the ticket staff speak English so that shouldn't be an issue. Otherwise, maybe someone else knows another website?

You will need to buy two single (enkele reis) tickets, each costing €17.50. No such thing as an advance ticket either, so no advantage to buying in advance.

I can't vouch for the charges levied to non-Dutch cards as I use my Rabobank card, but there is definitely a charge for using a ticket office of 0.50€. Quite a few of the ticket machines accept cash, for which there is no extra charge.

Also check that there are no engineering works on the Sunday evening.

Note Dutch train ticket machines don't accept banknotes. All machines accept Dutch bank cards and Maestro cards. Some also accept euro coins. A few machines at major tourist locations accept Visa and MasterCard, but for a fee. Otherwise, you won't be able to use most British bank cards.

It might be worth getting an OV-Chipkaart if you are also using local public transport. You need a minimum balance of €20 when starting a train journey and a minimum balance of €4 for local transport. You need to touch in and out using the readers on the platform or when entering and alighting from buses and trams. You can top up OV-Chipkaart with coins at a machine or with banknotes at a ticket office with no fee. You need to activate the card at a machine before you use it for train travel.

If you travel during weekends, it might pay of to search the internet for bargains. At Blokker, Albert Heijn, Kruidvat or HEMA they do sell day rover tickets for something like €17 from time to time.

No one selling them at the moment, but HEMA were the last people to sell them, so I'm sure another supermarket will offer them again soon.

paid 18 euros at Amsterdam Centraal for the trip was worth it. came home on a Any Stations in Holland ticket so was a decent trip. can anyone tell me what db schencker loco is parked near hook of Holland also what 66s where parked near Feyenoords stadium today
