Hi all,
Just a short update which I thought might be of interest.
Noted in the Pembrokeshire County Council depot in Milford Haven at 0800hrs on 27th February were a number of green & white Optare Tempos. Those I know to have been present were:
YJ61 MMA (Stagecoach Cymru 25104)
YJ61 MME (Stagecoach Cymru 25105)
YJ61 MMF (Stagecoach Cymru 25106)
YJ62 FAA (unknown)
and another Tempo with its registration plate taped over.
I posted a query on another forum and I gather, from a reply received, that the above Tempos - which are X1200s with DP35F seating - have proved inadequate for the T4 (Cardiff - Newtown) due to loadings, especially south of Merthyr, and are now being replaced with new Tempo X1260s with DP42F seating.
Known to be in existence so far are Tempo X1260s 25116 (YJ62 FAF), 25117 (YJ62 FBF) & 25118 (YJ62 FBZ).
I have already seen 25116 in service at least once. However if the route is proving so popular then it would be an idea to extend the short T4 trips beyond Merthyr to Brecon and run hourly between Brecon & Cardiff? I seem to remember hearing that there were calls for this to happen.
For anyone wondering I understand that the Tempo X1200s being displaced are destined for Brodyr Richards (Richards Brothers), Cardigan.
HTIOI,
Dave
