Good afternoon, for the past few weeks whilst travelling between Wakefield and Doncaster I have noticed a number of new signals that have been installed, however they are not yet operational and still have the heads covered.
It looks like all signals between Wakefield and Doncaster in both directions are being moved slightly and replaced
I also noticed there are quite a lot of lineside signs that have also been installed but are also covered, the same size and locations as speed limit signage.

My question is apart from the new signals what other anticipated changes are on the horizon between Wakefield and Doncaster, maybe increased line speed??

If the lineside signs were just like for like there I feel there would be no reason for them to be covered up.

Also, any idea when the new signals may come into operation, maybe over the Xmas period??

As usual, thanks in advance

The resignalling covers Adwick Junction to Wakefield Westgate exclusive. As you've seen most signals are being relocated slightly, however there is no significant line speed changes. The new speed boards you can see are either like for like, relocated slightly, or for the small amount of differential speed limits that the resignalling is introducing. There is going to be a section of 90/HST100 on the up line and a section of 95/HST100 on the down line.

Thank you for your replies, so the speeds limit is actually going to be reduced??
As I believe it’s currently 100mph for all trains from sandal to Doncaster, although I know some of the local trains might not manage that but am sure the 331’s are 100mph with a few long stretches, so will they be limited to the lower speeds??

Main aspect turnback signals are being provided at South Kirkby Junction instead of shunt signals.
