Waitrose Card - free hot drinks!

My nearest Waitrose is seventy miles away, so have no personal experience of this, but such offers never last for too long because a proportion of people mis-use the system by being greedy. It's the same with 'honesty boxes', if everyone played by the rules they'd exist in many more places. We do still have such things in West Cornwall but where they've disappeared it's mostly because some summer visitors think 'why should I put £1 in a box for six large newly-laid eggs when I can drive off and no-one will be the wiser?' A camera was installed at one place and recorded the BMWs and 4x4s arriving and disappearing without paying, sometimes with as many as four boxes of eggs. Result? An increase in the price of eggs for the rest of us.

If anyone does a lot of travelling near a Waitrose store, it's worth getting hold of a free Waitrose Card which entitles you to a free tea or coffee every day, with no obligation to purchase anything else.

Is the tea any nice though? Is it twinings? Hate the stuff!
Is the water like warm for h&s reasons, or is it boiling? Can't drink tea if not hot!

I noticed Kings Cross mentioned in the post you quoted. When I was in there a few days ago I didn't notice a coffee machine. Do they have one, it would surely be chaos if they did.

As for your question I think the tea is Twinings English Breakfast. I usually have coffee though. The coffee's warm but not boiling.

I think it depends on which store much have what in stock then, the last time I've used my card I've had either Waitrose English Breakfast or Earl Grey. And pretty hot too!

I buy from Waitrose online, and use the free hot drinks when I'm in town. Perhaps everyone in the store has been thinking I was a freeloader
