I recently completed the online psychological tests and online interview for a station role (talent pool) with Avanti. It's been two weeks since the deadline to complete the online interview and I haven't heard back. I know Avanti normally sends a regret email if they're not taking your application further, but I'm getting concerned about the time that's elapsed. Is it normal to wait two weeks or longer for a next step / outcome. Should I try to contact them to find out where I stand? Does anyone have knowledge or experience of this situation?

Yes 2 weeks is normal. Railway recruitment can be glacially slow I'm afraid.

Hi SiouzQ

I agree with pervious comments that the railway can take a while to respond but from experience of my own and other people's to various roles for various TOCS, be assured no news generally turns out to be good news in many cases. (Can't say all of course but generally).

Showing an interest with a polite email is never a bad thing. Either will recieve a reply to inform you that on this occasion you haven't been successful, the TOC is still making a decision and will be in touch soon or you've been successful and will be contacted shortly with the next steps.

For 2 roles I have been successful with for a TOC I emailed politely after 2 weeks and recieved a polite and positive response.

Regards
Das

Hi Das, thanks, that's very helpful! I think I'm going to send a polite follow-up email.
I'm really hoping that no news is good news in my case and it means I'm still in running.
I'm very keen on the role and I'm desperate to know the outcome, but I also don't want to mither them...
I'll post an update when I have a response.

A happy update! Before I had a chance to send a polite email to see if my application would be taken further, I received an update. I've been invited to do the do the Safety Awareness Test. I'm absolutely delighted
