The service isn't just used by "politicians and their cronies", others make use of it to avoid the long rail journey and overnight stays.

Personally I hope it continues under a new operator. The journey to Holyhead is not the most pleasant of trips if you don't go by WagEx!

Someone has suggested that maybe one of the Cardiff to Dublin services should stop at Anglesey, although i do0nt really think it is a good idea

I've never really worked out who uses this service (apart from AM's and their cronies, obviously). Whilst in theory it fills a niche, there being no commercial airport in North Wales, in practice there's no real population base on Anglesey and no real reason for anyone to fly there.
The assembly have always buried their head in the sand when it comes to the devastating truth - the people of North Wales don't particularly want to go to Cardiff. A shopping trip from Anglesey to a big city will generally mean a visit to Manchester or Liverpool, if travelling further afield then one may as well go to London or take a short hop across to Dublin. The assembly hang on to the conviction that everyone in the North wants to visit Cardiff, when we just don't... They can't handle the fact that culturally and traditionally, we are much closer to the NW of England, which is where most people want to travel to.
Blimey, that turned into a bit of an anti-assembly rant, didn't it?

Really? Apart from local government I cant think of one organisation who would have Anglesey or even North Wales covered from their Cardiff office.

I think you are largely right there Plannerman! The WAG seem to see Cardiff as the be all and end all of Wales, and are genuinely surprised when not everyone wants to go there! Some of us in South West Wales don't visit Cardiff at all either, although personally I am happy to call in for a few beers with my friends once a year! I've got nothing against the place, it's just been hyped and hyped and hyped, normally at the expense of other places in Wales!
