Can anyone tell me about this two car set. Is it ever used or just sat parked up. I know its middle cars were removed to extend two other sets to five cars.

Only used for staff training at the moment. Not in regular passenger use.

I have managed to ride 221144 in both its 4 car state a few weeks before it was broken up and made a two car unit. Then on a PLEG charter where it was dragged by the central rivers 08 and VT 57 the locos were detatched on the final run and it ran as two car unit along a small amount of track. this was due to the locos not being cleared through the shed if I remember. It ran with the aid of a compressor in the leading cab which in itself was noisy when it kicked it.

That was a good afternoon. Unexpected bonus the unit moving under its own power and being able to more or less be in the cab.
