I've heard the whispers that the 90 + Mk.3 set currently on lease to Virgin for Euston-Brum turns could be heading up to Preston on Thursday on a relief train in time for the Easter weekend.

Does anyone know whether this is true, and if so do they know the timings and the days it is running?

Any advance gen on such workings would be greatly appreciated as such a thing will become non-existent after December.

From December there will be no paths on the fast lines south of Rugby for anything that cannot do 125 mph

Yeah but Virgin arn't going to want to send something down the slow lines as it is likely to get stuck behind a London Midland service

Virgin only care about their own services which is fair enough. Railtours aren't on their agenda.

I have good word from various sources that there will definitely be a relief to Preston tomorrow, and the 90 + Mk.3 set is diagrammed for it.

It will leave London Euston at 13.43 for Preston (direct up the Trent Valley with stops at Crewe, Warrington and Wigan). Return journey leaves Preston at 17.00 and will run via Birmingham New St (same stops as outward run and also at Stafford and Wolves) to link in with the diagrammed run from there to Euston.

Hope this is of use to anybody. :)

This sounds so dreadful i'll have to come out for it, I mean a skoda has neverworked the WCML before, apart from 2000 when every train I went on (VWC) seemed to be 003

ah right yeah never was thast good at detecting sarcasm.

Well I thought by saying around 2000 every VWC service I seemed to get on was 90003, and that was a good enough clue ;)
