Voyager via Bescot?

Hi all

Today I got on a Virgin voyager from Wolverhampton to New street, the one thing I didnt expect was its routing via Bescot stadium, is this normal?

Engineering work or something went tits up on the normal route, its not an unusual occurance to go via the Grands.
