Can anyone please tell me what the small vertical orange lights are on the outside of Voyagers near the doors/ destination displays?

One per car...? More likely they are engine coolant level indicators. Cl170s have them but you have to press a button to make them light up on prep whereas on Voyagers they appear to be on all the time.

The red light is certainly to do with the toilet tanks, as I think it says. Not sure if the vertical ones are though

If there isn't one on the buffet coach (or former in the case of XC) then it stands to reason they'd be toilet indicators. If there is one on every coach then O L Leigh's suggestion sounds more plausible.

Has anyone got a photograph of it? I've done a quick search of Google images but can't find a picture of it anywhere.

I did the same...lots of head on shots but very few side on!

They are water level gauges, tells you how much water is left in the tank for hand washing, flush action etc. they should not normally be illuminated unless you put a finger on the small pressure plate. 185's have the same gauges but these are hidden behind a flap locked by a t key but the voyager ones are directly on the bodysides and uncovered.

If no one posts one in the meantime, I'll try and get a shot of one of these indicators tomorrow.

They always seem to be lit every time I see a voyager.

Possibly down to their age, exposure to the train side and the associated water and muck ingress. I have noticed one or two having some sort of sticky gunk on them reminiscent of Sellotape glue!

Right, I managed to snap a pic but as yet I don't know how to upload. I can confirm however that there are two small panels side by side, one of them indeed is the water gauge which is the row of lights you described. The large red light alongside is the effluent tank level, this lights up once the level is over 50%.

They never used to light up until you touched the plate, yet th two parked up in Newcastle station just now had every one illuminated. Why this is I don't know. Perhaps an arriva modification I can only speculate.

As mentioned earlier the left one is the header tank water level and the one on th right is a Warning light for the effluent tank. The finger plate to turn the gague on and off is under the water tank graphic, but as you mentioned before they have all been lit up recently, why this is I don't know.

This is only a guess, but would it be possible for this to be included in a software update? We all know how modern stock makes extensive use of computers. Is it possible that the staff wanted to know the water levels without having to press the button so they modified it?
