VolkerWessels Trainee Maintainer Operator

Hi all,

I applied for the position above a few weeks ago as with my HGV mechanic qualifications I thought it would be a great opportunity to combine my mechanical experience with being able to work in the railway sector. It’s been a few weeks and my online portal status is still saying application under consideration, is this normal for a company like this for the recruitment to take ages. I understand the usual train driver positions take for ever so would it be the same for something like this?

Also, Has anyone on here worked or currently work for VolkerRail? What are they like to work for? I got a rough idear as to the work required but if anyone could shed some further light on the day to day stuff that would be a help to.

Maintainer is basically mechanically things like maintenance cleaning trolleys and any thing that gets dirty when used on shifts The complex stuff will be done by the experience people who are trained there’s nothing to say you can’t go and get trained but you need to walk before you can run lol

Operator is what is say on the tin you operate I think they have Tampers and Regulators.

Don’t worry to much about the time scale it is normal within the railway sector
