My uncle lives in the US, and will be coming to London in July.
Both my mum and him want to visit Scotland and want to do a rail journey, but their health is not the best and they are in their 70s and both have long Covid so walking for very long distances is going to be a struggle.
Which lines would people suggest, and what is the best way of seeing the beauty Scotland has to offer.
I have seen some great stuff on the West highland Line.
They could fly to Glasgow, or take the sleeper, or even a daytime train.
Really appreciate any thoughts.

Forgot to mention, as my uncle is based overseas is there a railpass to promote tourism that gives discount on tickets.

The pass your uncle could use is the Eurail pass, but you would want to cost it against the sort of tickets that would be available to your mum, and considerSenior/Two Together railcard discount.

The classic would be the Skye circular. There's not much walking involved but you would want NOT to rush the trip: decide how much travel per day is right, and look out for too-tight connections.

You could make the journey north and south part of the trip, too. If you consider the sleeper, remember that the Highlander books up more quickly than the Lowlander.

As already suggested, the West Highland Line gets an enormous thumbs up from me, but so does the Highland Main Line. My view is that sitting on the left hand side gets the best views on the Highland Main Line, although the right hand side is also nice.

The line from Inverness to Kyle of Lochalsh has to be recommended, one of the most scenic lines I've ever done 8-)

If you're going all the way from London to Scotland, may I suggest the WCML for the scenery beyond Lancaster? Nothing quite so good as enjoying a cuppa while tilting at speed through Cumbria!

Ouch to their suffering long Covid though, what an unpleasant situation to be in. Hopefully their trip will be amazing!
