Please pardon me if this has been raised before, but as a new member of this forum I'm wondering if anyone can help.
I need to go to London on one of Virgin's Super-Voyagers in three week's time, and have been attempting to book via their website. It allows me to request a forward/rearward facing seat, table or single, quiet coach or otherwise, power-point etc, but does not allow the choice of a particular coach. Ideally, having long legs, I find the declassified coach D the most comfortable [along with most other people, I suspect!]. Is there any way of requesting a seat in this coach, or is it just a matter of repeated trying until hopefully the computer comes up with it at random? Also, is there any particular method in the way seats are allocated, eg does the computer fill all seats in coaches B and C before starting on Coach D, or is it all a matter of luck?

I thought coach d was only de-classified on the birmingham to scotland route.

No, it's declassified on the North Wales Coast services too, and most seasoned travellers understandably make a beeline for it.

When you get on the train, just look for a 'non-reserved' seat which you like the best.

Reserved seat allocation appears random. In some other countries, you can choose a specific seat when you reserve.

I know this may not be of any help, but if you go to a ticket office, you can select the exact seat/coach you want :)
