Tried to find info on Virgin site, but no joy.

Is anyone aware if the £15-20 Weekend First upgrade is available on 31st of Dec on Virgin Glasgow Central - Euston?

I know 31st isn't a Weekend, but the normal weekday 'First Class' service has been withdrawn, so thought the Weekend First surcharge may be in operation. Will contact CS tomorrow, just trying to find out this evening.

Virgin site says it's a 'normal Thursday' service, but "Although the full First Class catering offer will be withdrawn between 27 December and 3 January, First Class customers will receive at their seats a selection of hot drinks, water, crisps, biscuits and fresh fruit. "

(I have a standard anytime return ticket I'd like to use, am trying to arrange to travel with friends who may get First Class tickets if I can sit with them)

Thanks

Just as an aside to the original question you posted, you mentioned that you are using a Standard Anytime Return ticket and I don't know if you are aware or not that you need not purchase the £15.00 upgrade for Weekend First as the following applies:

Standard Class Anytime Return/Single

Customers travelling using this product on a Saturday, Sunday or Bank Holiday can upgrade to First Class on Virgin Trains services FREE OF CHARGE.

Also, if it is an Anytime ticket and not an off-peak then it's worth asking if you can get a free upgrade.

On weekends and Bank Holidays, upgrades to First Class on Virgin Trains is free of charge if holding a Standard Class Anytime ticket by approaching the Train Manager.

But none of Virgin's trains during the same period are classed as "peak", so holding an Anytime ticket would be pointless.

Yes, the FC upgrade is operational, I paid £101 for tickets tomorrow to find they changed the service. Apparently I have £101 worth of travel vouchers on their way to me.

Thanks for the link, couldn't find it when I looked (their website seems to be more like an 'intranet' that has somehow been released to the public)
