Virgin Trains On-board CSA Wolverhampton job 2013.....HELP?

Hey guys.........

I have a question relating to an on board CSA position with Virgin Trains I applied for a month and a half ago.

I have heard NOTHING since applying, although I did receive an e-mail saying it would take a while for things to process, but was wondering if anyone else who applied has had any correspondence?

I am so hopeful of getting this job and check the website everyday (normally more than once, although I'm sure this isn't normal ) only to see the 'Candidate Processing' status........

I heard that they tell you if you're unsuccessful after the recruitment event, so if that's the case then I guess someone aboard this forum will know about it (pardon the pun )

I've not had any experience with Virmin, but a friend of mine recently applied for a position at Rugby, and she applied, had the interview and had a "Dear John" within a couple of weeks.

However, most people on here will tell you that NOTHING gets done quickly on the railways. Certainly within my TOC, everything takes ages. A chap at my place was recently restricted as his glasses needed changing. It took my TOC over a week to get it all altered on his paperwork and signed off so that he could go back working trains.

If you've heard nowt from them, don't be afraid to ring the HR department. It certainly won't hurt. If you don't ask, you don't get.

Something else to bear in mind - everybody wants to work on the railways, and it may just be that they've had more applications than they expected (usually the case) and they've not sorted them into "Yes's and No's" yet.

Nothing is certain until the letter drops on the doormat. Don't be disheartened.

I have also applied for a (onboard) CSA. I applied at the end of July and today my status changed from application recently submitted to "candidate processing"", I don't know if this has any significance but here's hoping good luck on your application .

I applied for a drivers job with virgin. They took 6 weeks to process the application , then notified by email. Had the interview 10 days ago, just waiting to hear if I have got the job. Everything happens slowly, you just have to be patient

I applied for the same position but based at Preston. Sent my application on the 18th July (the closing date was a week later the 24th). Still haven't heard anything, and like yourself I check the website everyday. This is my third attempt at getting even an interview. But I changed all my answers this time and put so much time and effort into the application that I'm keeping everything crossed. I would love to work for Virgin Trains I just need them to give me a chance, but I understand they must be inundated with people applying and so I just have to be patient. Anyway,thanks for all the replies,anecdotes, advice and good luck! It seems like a very long process, which is understandable seeing as it is really much more than just an amazing job opportunity. I just hope I get it! I wish luck to those who have applied too.

I applied for the Glasgow csa onboard, it took 4 weeks to go from recently submitted, to candidate processing to a rejection email, got it yesterday

I applied for a CSA for virgin at new street and the closing date was the 24th July I'm guessing I haven't got it as I have had no reply. If anybody has had any response for the new street position please let me know! I've got everything crossed!!

I'm so glad its not just me I applied for a position with virgin trains Birmingham on the 15th Aug (Closing date being the 21st) and check the website daily! my status still appears as 'recently submitted' and was beginning to think maybe it was just unsuccessful...but hopefully there is still a chance! good luck everyone

No there are more than several posts to be filled.

Some of the temp staff have just been given perm jobs, Virgin have been dealing with the this first, other temp staff have found jobs at other stations, I think that HR are just seeing how many people they need to fill the jobs.

I'm sure everything has been put on hold until they know exactly how many people they need.

Hi plastictaffy,

Just to clear this up with you, when you apply for a job with Virgin Trains, they send you a confirmation e-mail. Within it, it states specifically NOT to contact them in any way regarding a position you have applied for. Obviously because of the volume of applicants; supposedly up to 300+ or so I've heard.

I hope this answers your somewhat sarcastically written, rhetorical question.

Unfortunately I didnt get the position. Did the tests and group task but did not get as far as the interview. Oh well onwards and upwards!!!!

Unlucky to hear that. At least got that far.

Guessing my self am unsuccessful since it is still saying 'Recently Submitted'
