Unsure if this is the correct forum folks, apologies if not. Can the mods move it?

Travelling on the 18:40 Glasgow-Preston tomorrow, anyone know when boarding should begin for the train? First time on a long distance service.

Not travelled on that particular service before but, in general, from my experience, boarding normally starts about 20/25 minutes before departure for Virgin's Pendolino services from Glasgow. Only times I have not seen that happen is when the incoming service has been delayed.

The train for this normally arrives at about 18:00
Typically boarding commences at 18:20 and not normally any later than 18:30
Be aware that the train doors close at 18:39, so make sure you are on the concourse by 18:35

You might want to look at Live Arrivals to see if it is on time northbound
Be aware there is a spare set available, so it could be swapped and still leave on time southbound

On past experience this is not a heavilly loaded train at all.

That proabably explains why it has very cheap Advance tickets! It's very nice when you get a very quiet First Class carriage on a Pendolino, particularly on a breakfast/evening meal service, as the staff are even more attentive. :)

Pretty much the same as the 04:28 Glasgow - Euston, a service that previously started at Carlisle and has been extended to Glasgow (due to the slightly shorter journey times)
Previously the last southbound Euston service was between 17:10 and 17:30, and even this was relatively quiet

I agree First Class at these times is much better
I quite often get one serving between Glasgow and Carlisle, and another between Carlisle and Preston
However, after Preston there is usually only one
It is the same with the 16:30 Euston to Glasgow, but this has been incredibly quiet recently such that a second round of meals is often offered at around Rugby, the snack is then offered after Preston, then any left overs again on departing Carlisle
