S ACELA is an (up to) 150mph high-speed tilting train in the north east (based on TGV tech!),

150mph on just 30 miles of track and average speeds between the main centres in the low 70s - the carriages were also built too wide to allow tilt on some sections of the North East Corridor. Also twice as heavy as a TGV due to US safety rules.

"Twice as heavy as a TGV".....a TGV with it`s axle weight limit of 16 tonnes(I believe) is set by high speed line regulations.
That would give this American thing an axle weight of 32 tonnes! (Is this laden with US passengers)
What type of safety rules are you implying?......Fire regulations?...crash worthyness?
A TGV-TMST (373 Eurostar to you and me) has some of the most rigourous safety features of any train. This being set by Channel Tunnel conditions.
Built using fire retardent materials inside and additional fire doors (for tunnel transit only). As for crash worthyness, ever seen the video of the TGV coaches crash tested?
So why is this American train soooooo heavy?
