Virgin trains fixed term

I was wondering if there was anyone on here who works/has worked on a fixed term contract (virgin). I have accepted an offer for a fixed term contract and was assured quite a lot of people do get took on after this. Has anyone been in this situation before and what happened following?

If whether you get taken on after the contract is the deciding factor for you then I would walk away.

If you get in and make a good impression, chances are high of being kept on

Just be wary with the upcoming franchise that there’s a chance you won’t be kept on. I remember when I was fixed term back in 2012 at Virgin and no fixed term staff were made permanent until it was known what was going on with the franchise.

It is quite a important factor. I mean who wants to be jobless after the fixed term period. We all have bills to pay. But it’s so much better than my current job and I’ve wanted to get in for a while now. So I see it as a foot in the door to get me into a job I really want. So I have took it and whatever will be will be but they were pretty certain that there would be quite a few chances to stay

Exactly what I’ve been told. Make a good impression work hard and they’ll keep you. So that’s what I intend to do ☺️☺️ Fingers crossed. I jumped at the chance even though it was fixed term as I applied last year Didn’t get in, applied again now I have got in I don’t want the chance to work there to disappear.

Of course I sympathise with your position. I am just saying from a logical sense that it is always going to be a bit of a gamble and if you do go into it, make sure you have a plan for what happens when you don't get the permanent contract.
