Announcement at Euston just now. 1555

1623 VT service to Wolverhampton and 1633 to Preston both cancelled due to lack of rolling stock. What gives?

Update. Tweet from VT says that the missing units "must be occupied elsewhere".

There's disruption at Congleton due to a person being hit by a train earlier so some Pendolinos may have got stuck at Manchester as a result.

Reason given for both cancellations is in relation to the Congleton incident.

Then they are being a bit naughty as they were earlier showing as in reaction to cancellation of both the 10.15 and 11.55 Manchester - Eustons after EMU failures - they were stepping sets up at Manchester for much of the morning due to a shortage of working units as well.

Virgin Trains are probably the best at getting to grip with turnarounds. They cancel at a last resort probably down to the sheer choice of Pendo arrivals. Just the crew issues to sort. I am mostly impressed with the way this operator gets back on top of service disruption.
