Virgin trains advance fares.

Looking to go to Edinburgh on 20th Oct. fares been out a couple of weeks now started around the £41 mark. First advance fare last week was £29 on the 07.27 from Warrington. Question is this is a bit dearer than normal, could this fare go down in price. Thanks for any replies.

AP's do not go down, once the cheapest tier sell they jump to the next and so on. "Subject to availability" basically if others have already bought them tough. Clearly more people have for the 20th October already.

AP's can go down if Virgin have one of their sales, or as what happened to me when I booked the Highland Chieftain with VTEC, there is a sudden change of operator and the new company start setting their own lower advance fares. (Still can't believe how unlucky I was!)

However, I wouldn't gamble on one of those things happening if you can get a good price now.

Thanks for replies, I was just questioning the cost because I checked every day and the only priced advanced so far has been £29. It’s not been lower, though on other Saturdays same train has been.

Perhaps Saturday 20 October is more expensive than previous weeks because many families are travelling to and from Edinburgh at the beginning (or end) of school half-term.

Yes but holding on to see if they do is not a particularly good idea as the chances are very high you'll just end up paying more than when you first looked.
