On two occasions (in December and January) I have had Advance tickets for the 10.20 Birmingham International to Euston. I am sure my reservation were based on a Pendolino.

Both times at about 10.10 the train has gone delayed on the departure boards but then turned up on time. The electronic station voice has advertised a Pendolino with Standard class at the rear. When the train has turned up it has been two voyagers (super?) coupled together. First class is then at the front of both units. Seat reservations are also meaningless. Sit anywhere I was told by Train Manager.

I have quite enjoyed my journey because I have able to get a seat in the convertible carraige where you get a large amount of leg room. Also the windows seem bigger (better aligned too), the seats more comfortable, the lighting better and the cabin more spacious than a Pendolino. All in all like a HST before they went high density.

Does anybody know if this is normal for this service.

Thank you, Stephen.

Sometimes if it is a service from Scotland going through to Euston via New Street, if it is running late, the incoming service from Euston continuing to Scotland can get turned at Wolverhampton to operate the service RT back to Lodnon, while the late running VT from Scotland turns round and runs in its path back up to Scotland again. This avoids knock on effects to other trains on the Southern WCML
