Virgin Train Drivers&staff

Folks,
This may be obvious,however,what would happen with all the virgin employees on the west coast route if virgin lost the tender.I know there is a lot of money in training their drivers on the pendalino and other staff ect.

I would imagine Virgin would re-deploy staff were possible however would they get some sort of financial help from the dft or is it basicaly...see u later alligator,experienced personel looking for work

all that would happen is the staff would transfer over to the new operator (just like XC) they keep the same t&c's etc.

Surely a new franchisee would be looking for staff and should therefore be able to offer jobs to ex Virgin employees.

Only the higher management changes in a franchise change. Everyone else, planners, guards, drivers etc just change uniforms really.

to further clarify, it would be protected under TUPE (Transfer of Undertakings (Protection of Employment) Regulations 2006)

Yes, they are all TUPE'd when a franchise changes. This is why youw ills ee references to different terms and conditions for ex Silverlink and ex Central staff on LM.

The majority of staff will be TUPE'd over to the new company.

Sounds like the 'H' word (harmonisation) . After 7 long years of National Express in East Anglia they are nowhere near one, excuse the very very sad pun, group of staff. Why would any of us give away anything? Long live GE WAGN & AR.
