Hi,

Can anyone give me any advise regarding a casual position? I've been asked to the recruitment event, however I'm wondering if this can lead to a full time position as I didn't get a invite to the full time position I applied for, also is it to cover busy periods, sickness, leave? Would it be rostered or standby say weekly basis?

Any help would be great...

Onboard casual staff are not normally rostered, just if they need a job covering you'll get a phone call asking if you're interested. It's strictly weekend only, and you only get paid for the hours you work (though the hourly rate is exactly the same as for contracted staff). The training is also shorter (1 week at the talent academy versus 3 for contracted staff).

Many casual staff have gone on to get full contracts - there is no automatic process for it, they just apply for the jobs the same as everyone else, but obviously they have an advantage over people coming in off the street as they already have some training and experience.
