Hello all,

Before I call up Virgin Media (I have a mobile only, so will cost a fair bit!) I just thought I'd ask first on here on the off chance someone else has had the same issue or may know the fix (might be simple after all!) I have looked on Virgin's forum as someone else had that issue and was advised to call the 0845 number to discuss your settings....not that I have changed anything though mind!

The issue is loading pages. This works, other forums, google etc works fine but if I try http://www.ebay.co.uk
http://www.compasstoursbyrail.co.uk

There was another OMSI site that didn't seem to work either. But it just suggests those site's don't exist :? I've had this for some weeks now. I thought maybe Google Chrome is oddly going strange, but IE8 or Firefox won't run it either.
My boyfriend tried it too as we are shared off a Netgear router from the main router, so I unplugged the main router and plugged it back in 10 seconds later, but it still does the same thing.

I can't remember changing anything on my PC but then if my PC and BF's laptop does the same thing, then it's the internet itself...?

Has anyone else had this issue and remembered what they did?

Any help appreciated!

Cheers,

James.

We have had the same problem, we got Virgin to send us out a new router which cost us £4.99 to pay for delivery and this is even worse.

You try to get onto a site and it says "this site does not exist".

We have quite a few lap tops and my sons x-box live and all of a sudden it kicks us off the lot and we have to re-set the router.
Virgin says its something to do with a virgin technician going to solve someone else s problem at the box and that can alter everyone's else s bandwidth.

Have you tried running a virus scan or uninstalling/reinstalling your browsers?

I have the same problem with O2 Home Broadband, but it is not the same sites, and a few refreshes later the website normally loads.

Come to think of it, I have recently played with the router's ports to get my brother's Xbox live to work properly (which I did successfully), so it may have something to do with this. Will have to keep an eye on when he is playing it so I can test it.

Have you recently added a new computer/Xbox/phone to the router as they may be blocking some ports if used at the same time?

Can you access the pages through a Proxy?

What Mojo says would be a good check

I have had issues with Virgin before and it not loading certain sites - I seem to recall it sorted itself eventually but I suspected a DNS issue there.

One thing to do as well is if you have to call Virgin, check out www.saynoto0870.com and try and find an alternative number. I'm sure we did when we had to call Virgin so only then got charged a local rate call rather than premium rate

Alternatively dial 150 for free from your VM Phone ;)

Stuffed for that as I'm on O2 :p

Thank you very much Causton, I set that OpenDNS up and it successfully works! :D
Thank you to those who suggested it may be the cause and for the help, much appreciated! :D
