Virgin mark 2 coaches at Eastleigh

For quite some time I would see a couple of Virgin mark 2's at Eastleigh works when going down to Portsmouth but a few weeks ago they disappeared.

Does anyone know where they went?

West Coast Railways reccently brought 9 of them from HSBC - these were the ones stored in Eastleigh Works and are now over in Southall.

Probably get transported onto southall for their Mk 2 fleet I imagine, as that's where most of they're current Mk2s are located I understand

potential for further use? I hope so.

With all the overcrouding and capacity threads and debates wev had on here this has come up over and over and its a mark of the inflexibilitty of todays railway that although with drawn from mass usage they are not playing a part stil in dealing with the groath in numbers that privitisation has been so good for!

Whilst I admit they nolonger have a place on intercity runs, with a cupple of abceptions opperaters like ATW and FSR have the rite idea by using them and its just a shame more cant do the same.

If logistically possible, it would be nice to see them working XCs turbostar runs allowing those units to go to say TPE to help overcrouding there. It could be argued
that as there current WCML paths are 100 MPH ones that some X Virgin stock could return to its old stomping0ground and run man-Scotland.

Thats just a cupple of ideas. I know there are many many challenges in doing this, but you cant blame me for dreaming!

I wouldnt be surprised if WCRC have snapped them up for Olympic services, the timing would certainly suggest it.
