Hi all,

Just wondering if anyone has any info on the shift patterns for a customer service assistant with Virgin? Wondering how many weekends etc. Am looking at the vacancy at Crewe - giving up on ever hearing from Arriva about the conductor roles!

Cheers

Crewe is staffed 24 hours, so you can expect to be working very late and very early (although I believe its only the shunter link that works through the night). I can't speak for definite as I don't work there, but at another Virgin station relatively nearby, but I have covered up there in the past.

Most VT platform staff are on a 4 day week, with Sundays outside so at most stations you'll only be rostered for 1 in 3 of them, and if you can get someone else to work it you won't have to do it. Week 1 rest days are Monday Tuesday, week 2 Wednesday Thursday and Week 3 Friday Saturday, so you end up with a 5 day weekend every 3 weeks. If you do work a Sunday, its paid at time and a quarter.

Be warned though, this position may well be GPR, so instead of following the above pattern, you are "spare", you cover for other people being on holiday/sick/etc. You're still guaranteed 35 hours of work a week, but you won't know until the week before what days you're working the next week, there are no regular patterns.
